Mac OS X Netbook Compatibility Chart

Apple said — in 2008 — it had “pretty interesting ideas” for a Mac netbook.

Fast forward to 2011 the MacBook Air has replaced the former MacBooks and has everything any netbook lover always wanted to, but cannot have due to a 1k pricetag.

Reason I’m looking into any kind of laptop (again), is because of change in requirements of my ‘on the road’ IT business. I need something with …

  • multiboot capabilities (Linux, Hackintosh, Windows)
  • higher screen resolution than 1024×600; at least 1280x800pixels widescreen with >= 12″ screen
  • 2-3hours battery life
  • Lightweight & portable dimensions
  • have at least 60GB harddrive
  • No Atom, but instead Core Duo Intel U-series.
  • At a similar netbook pricetag of ~ €200

Doesn’t exist? Maybe. http://www.mymacnetbook.com/compatibility-chart/ is a start and the Dell Alienware M11x R1 looks interesting, but also expensive and due to sizes not very portable.

But … as I happen to know … Dell’s Latitude Dell D420 and Dell D430 not only has excellent reviews, they can be held for about €150-200 second hand and are OSX compatible: http://www.osxlatitude.com !!
