Export Bookmarks From Safari and Import into Chrome OS

As till 48hrs ago I was a heavy Apple Safari user, but already know — articles to be released soon — I’ll be moving my WebDevelopment / RAD environment to Chrome OS.

Export Bookmarks From Safari
and Import to Chrome OS

Two simple steps how to export bookmarks from MacOSX Mavericks to my C720P ChromeOS.

Export bookmarks from Safari

  1. Open Safari if it is not already open.
  2. Choose File > Export Bookmarks.
  3. Specify a location for the exported file. The file’s name is “Safari bookmarks.html.” Most browsers are able to import this type of file.

Import Bookmarks into Chrome OS

Well not straight into Chrome OS. But with an easy workaround:

  1. Dowload Chrome for MacOSX
  2. Chrome -> Preferences  -> Connect to Google Account
  3. Wait a few moments before syncing is complete
  4. Chrome -> Import Bookmarks & Settings
  5. Follow the simple instructions

(if you’re lucky you don’t even have to export bookmarks, as it will just detect Safari is present, but it’s nice to have a backup)

Done!
